Educators Day

Educators Day
The pre-conference Educator’s Day will be of particular interest to child and youth care educators, researchers,
leaders, and practitioners committed to professional practice. The goal of the day is to share information, learn the
quality of care provided to children, youth and families around the world.
Morning (9-12): Presentation of CYC Education Accreditation Goals, Materials and Activities
Accreditation in CYC is intended to be a process for regular, rigorous review of program goals, pedagogies, and
outcomes, with the aim of helping us be accountable to each other, to students, and to children, youth, and
families. It aims to facilitate dialogue and education within and across CYC programs about innovation and quality,
assisting with decision-making about where and how to situate a School, Department, or Program.
Our CYC colleagues, coordinated by the Child and Youth Care Accreditation Board of Canada, are busy working
on the supporting materials and designing the processes; these will be shared with Educators Day participants, with
time for questions and feedback to the Board.
Afternoon (1-4): CYC Education: Moving forward...
This interactive session will build on previous discussions pertaining to the future of the CYC field. One of the ways
in which today's educators can have a voice in shaping that future is through the sharing of ideas and experiences.
Educators are asked to come prepared to exchange assignments and teaching strategies which are innovative
and/or people find effective. Opportunity will be provided for participants to connect across programs. Ways to
continue this type of practical exchange – among educators and between educators and practitioners - will be
explored.
Educators Day has a fee of $75.00 to cover lunch and venue costs.
