Introduction/St. Johns
Welcome to the Professional Regulation for Canadian Child and Youth Care Website.
The Pre-Conference Day working meeting in St. John's was the initiation of a dialogue
and an ongoing commitment on the part of the Council of Canadian Child and Youth
Care Associations to continue to advance the initiative.
The intent of the initiative is to be as open to participation from all levels of the
professional child and youth care system in Canada. The use of online resources
toward that end is one aspect of this, as well as a commitment to host Pre-Conference
working meetings. The second working day in Victoria was well attended and a report
coming out of that meeting will be written and published to this site. There was a similar
and welcome response in Calgary as well. The fifth working day took place in
conjunction with
Beyond Frontiers In Montreal in 2006. The goal of working toward
national standards and regulations for child and youth care work has been agreed upon.
Future working days will advance the dialogue.
The site plan at this point will be to use the host city for organization. Please visit each
city to follow the development of the initiative. Dr. Carol Stuart from Ryerson School of
Child and Youth Care has generously facilitated the working days and prepared a report
to follow each.  These are in PDF format and will require an Acrobat Reader to access.
For archival purposes, each report has a link from each of its specific cities. The
Montreal report forms the content of the page.
